Well, we made it to Maastricht this weekend. It was a cold and slightly rainy day in Netherworld, so we didn't spend the whole day walking around, but we did get to explore a little. We parked near the centrum and walked until we came across a few churches and a big square.

And I don't know what these are. (And I don't know why the picture won't show up right side up. I tried.)

This must be where all the action is, we thought to ourselves. And indeed, it was bustling with tourists and assorted Dutch people.

After walking around a little and getting a tiny bit lost, we stumbled upon a section of the old city walls. Since Maastricht is the oldest city in the Netherlands, we thought this was pretty cool.

After much more wandering, we found ourselves back in the square. Not knowing exactly what else we wanted to see, we got sucked into the shopping. There are lots and lots of stores, good stores, right off the big square you saw earlier. So, having had our fill of churches and walls, we hit kitchen stores and clothing boutiques, where I found a very sassy pair of shoes.

I think Maastricht was too big and it was too cold and icky for us to explore all of it in one day. We saw a lot of fun things and old things and interesting things as we were leaving, so we'll have to do a Maastricht Part II sometime in the future. Maybe by then we'll be able to tell you something besides "This was old" and "This was pretty". We might even have real live facts and dates. I'm not making any promises though.

Sorry for the lack of updates recently. Unfortunately, we've become boring. We both had colds, sat around watched DVDs, ate, and didn't do much else. We could give you a long list of movie reviews, but we all know that's not what you come to read. (If you want to know, though, The Departed was excellent, and Rent was a waste of time.)

But don't worry. We're still alive and will be interesting again soon. This weekend we're going to Maastricht to explore a little. Next month, the Morrisons will conquer Italy. So stay tuned.
